2024 NCCI Changes and the Impact on Workers’ Comp Premiums

On November 1, 2023, the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) is making significant changes to the rating system for Experience Modification Ratings (EMR) for workers’ compensation coverage.  These changes are important to understand as they have an impact on how the mod is calculated and your resulting workers compensation insurance premiums.

These changes include the introduction of state specific Split Point Amounts (also referred to as the Primary/Excess Split Point) and modifications to the State Accident Limitation (which is the maximum value that any single claim has in the Experience Modification Rating calculation). In other words, the changes put more weight on smaller and more frequent claims.

A more detailed explanation of these changes can be found HERE.  Please reach out to DSP to further analyze the impact of these changes on your own Experience Modification Rating.
